A good small website does not need to be complicated. It needs to do a few things very well.
- Say clearly, on the first screen, who you are and who you help
- Make the next step obvious, whether that is calling, booking, donating or referring someone
- Work properly on a phone, because most of your visitors are on one
- Put your phone number, email and address where people expect them
- Show that real people trust you, with stories, case studies or the organisations you work with
- Load quickly, with every page given a clear title and summary for search engines
- Run on secure, up-to-date hosting, with the padlock showing
- Be easy for your own team to update, so it never goes stale
- Work for everyone, including people who read differently or speak another language
If you sell things, add a checkout you can trust, run by a company that specialises in payments.
And once a month, check that it all still works. Links break, pictures go missing and forms quietly stop sending. Every website we build checks itself and emails you a short report, so you never have to remember.
