What we find when we read an old website

A rebuilt home page for the Greater Manchester Hazards Centre

Before we build a new website, we read the old one from top to bottom. The same problems turn up again and again, and most of them are easy to fix once someone notices.

  • A footer that still says a year from long ago
  • Links to partners that no longer work, or go nowhere
  • A home page with a large empty space where the news should be
  • Pictures with no description for people with a visual impairment
  • Small spelling slips on the most important buttons

None of these is anyone’s fault. Websites are built once and then left, while the people who run them get on with their real work.

That is why every website we build comes with an editor your team can use without any training in code, and a monthly health report that spots these things before your visitors do.
